That was a disaster

We’ve all been there.

Breathing a huge sigh of relief at the end of a nightmare day. Or week.

Because in real life, disasters happen occasionally.

And usually, the way someone deals with a disaster tells us more about them than watching them sail on smooth waters.

This is one of the reasons I recommend you ask any potential IT support partner about the biggest IT disaster they’ve had to deal with. Their answer can really tell you a lot about their business.

Do they shy away from the question? Make a joke about it? Or maybe tell you they’ve never had a disaster?

Unless they’re new to the job, it’s highly unlikely that nothing has ever gone wrong.

What are they hiding?

If they do tell you about a situation, how much detail do you get? Will they tell you about the plan they had in place for such an issue? Or how the experience made them create a new protocol?

And do they still work with that client now?

Sometimes asking difficult questions gives you a much better insight into a business and how good a match it will be for you. Ask away!
